The West Windsor Arts Council is hosting a Blank Canvas Gala and Art Auction Saturday, March 23, which will feature work from more than 40 artists. The event will also give guests the chance to be part of a collaborative piece of art.

As part of the invitational show, each of the participating artists were given a 12″ x 12″ blank canvas to create a new work of art. Each piece will be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the West Windsor Arts Center’s programs. The works will range from realism to postmodernism, using all manner of mediums, including fabric, photography, acrylic paint and found materials.

The event will feature live music by guitarist Dave Baker, an open bar, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine and sweets and live art demonstrations. The first demonstration will be by painter Anne Kullaf. The second will feature James Hickey, who creates abstracts with mixed media.

Artist Katie Truk will also lead an interactive art project to create a large-scale mural during the gala. All guests will be invited to collage and paint their own square of the mural.

The works of the Blank Canvas artists will be on display in the exhibition gallery at the West Windsor Arts Center starting March 4, although nothing will be available for purchase until the gala.

The following local artists will be participating: Zakia Ahmed, Priscilla Snow Algava, Sherri Andrews, Jaime An-Wong, Seema Bhattacharjee, Melissa Blossom, Maggie Byram, Jim Carvalho, Mikel Cirkus, Jim Doherty, Kelsey Doherty, Ilene Dube, Kimberly Ducoté-Schimmel, Aylin Green, James Hickey, Nelly Kouzmina, Joy Kreves, Anne Kullaf, Renee Kumar, Lori Langsner, Kat Liao, Bruce Lindsay, Eleni Litt, Aarti Mantri, Maria Mauro, Lucretia Mcguff-Silverman, Hetal Mistry, Susan Mitrano, Anika Mittal, Mark Moscarello, Anna Neis, John O’Neill, Uhl Palmer, Tim Parris, Renata Piccione, Jane Proulx, Pratibha Raju, Joy Sacalis, Anusha Saran Rastogi, Jessie Schadt, Eric Schultz, Lucia Stout, Katie Truk, Archana Vadivelu, Kyle Van Dyke and Barbara Weinfield.
