Ballet Theatre to present ‘Gisele’

The Central NJ Ballet Theatre will present Giselle: A Ballet in Two Acts on June 23, 2017 at the Villa Victoria Theater starting at 6 p.m., along with the annual Recital Gala. Tickets are $20 at the door or $20 for adults and $15 for children under 10 years at the Central NJ Ballet Theatre.The ballet tells the story of a peasant girl named Giselle, who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover is betrothed to another. Led by their Queen Myrtha, The Willis are a group of supernatural women who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave. They target her lover for death, but Giselle’s great love frees him from their grasp.Dancing the title role of Giselle Erin Ryan of Bordentown. Playing the role of Myrtha, Queen of the Willis is Alexa Angelucci of Florence. Bordentown’s Shriya Varma will be featured in the first act’s peasant pas de Deux. Katherine Narwid of Columbus and Tanner Hutchinson of Hightstown will be dancing the roles of the Demi Soloists. Kiera Wilkinson of Hamilton will play the role of Berthe, and Julia Gibbons of Columbus rounds out the cast as Bathilde. All students of the Central NJ Ballet Theatre will be dancing the corps de ballet roles.
