Freeholders honor Mercer County softball champions, Robbinsville High School

The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders honored the 2016 Mercer County Tournament softball champion, Robbinsville High School Ravens at their May 24 agenda meeting.

The second-seeded Ravens defeated Notre Dame by a score of 6-1 to clinch its secnd Mercer County Championship in the last three years. Senior Sam Deck got the win on the mound and was named tournament MVP.

“Robbinsville had an amazing tournament run, and they continue to prove that Robbinsville Softball is not only a Mercer County powerhouse but a state powerhouse,” Freeholder John A. Cimino said. “As a youth sports coach I know firsthand the time commitment given by the players, coaches, and families which is why I believe it is important to honor this great accomplishment.”

The board presented the team with a sealed resolution commemorating their Championship.
