PlanSmart NJ recently announced the appointment of former Plainsboro township administrator Bob Sheehan as the organization’s new director of planning. His future duties include directing planning projects for the nonprofit’s stranded assets initiative, which seeks to develop strategies to reclaim vacant and underutilized suburban commercial properties.

The state Department of Community Affairs awarded Plainsboro a $20,000 Recreational Opportunities for Individuals with Disabilities grant. The grant will fund recreation and therapeutic programming for disabled residents. Past programs include drama and fine arts classes, the adapted aquatics program, young adult dances, and outings for special needs children and their families.
