Youth Orchestra set to perform two concerts on Feb. 1

On Sunday, Feb. 1, the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey is set to perform two concerts at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium.

The 12:30 p.m. concert will feature the String Preparatory and Pro Arte Orchestras and the Wind Symphony.

Selections include Giacomo Puccini’s Chrysanthemum, Jacques Offenbach’s Can Can, Franz Schubert’s 8th Symphony and Greensleeves by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

The 4 p.m. concert will feature the Saxophone Choir and Symphonic Orchestra.

The choir will perform Supra by Jonathan Russell and Alexander Glazunov’s Cortège Solennel.

Yumi Kendall, the acting associate principal cello with the Philadelphia Orchestra, will perform Edward Elgar’s Concerto for Violoncello with the Symphonic Orchestra. The orchestra will also perform Liberty Fanfare by John Williams and movement’s from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 3.

Tickets are $20.

Additionally, auditions to join the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey will take place on Tuesday Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North located at 90 Grovers Mill Road in Plainsboro. All musicians must take private lessons and be enrolled in their school music programs.
