Bordentown resident Marguerite L. Mount, CPA, CGMA, was selected to receive the Mary Jo Codey Award at the Family Guidance Center Corporation’s Annual Spring Fling on April 16. Mount is managing director and principal of The Mercadien Group, P.C., CPAs; and leader of the firm’s Individual Services Group.

Family Guidance Center is a nonprofit organization that provides community-based services, including financial literacy, special education and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment programs, to a diverse population in Central New Jersey.

The Mary Jo Codey Award, named for the former first lady of New Jersey, recognizes a member of the community who steadfastly advocates for the rights of individuals challenged by a variety of personal or family problems.

Mount has been an active community volunteer, serving on numerous nonprofit boards, her entire professional career. In addition to providing tax and advisory services and education, she is chairman of The Mercadien Foundation, which promotes and provides financial literacy programs in the region. Mount also is a recently re-appointed board trustee and member of many committees of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, where she was named to the Professional Advisory Recognition Society for her role in the community. She is a former member of the board of trustees of the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey, serving as past chairman and recipient of its 2011 Clara Barton Leadership Award.

Mount’s previous honors also include receipt of the 2006 Outstanding Woman of Business Award from the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders and Council of Women; the 2005 Woman of Distinction Award in the World of Finance from the Girl Scouts of Delaware-Raritan, Inc.; and the 2005 Ethel Downing Johnson Memorial Award from the YWCA of Trenton for her commitment to its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. For many years, she’s been a member of the Economic Development Committee, the Gilder Park Committee and the Environmental Commission Creative Team of Bordentown.
