A look back at Ewing’s GM Plant and Naval Air Center

The Hopewell Valley Historical Society is set to host “A look back at Ewing’s General Motors Plant and the Naval Air Propulsion Testing Center” on Saturday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. The event will take place at Timberlane Middle School located at South Timberlane Drive in Pennington.

Ellie Calcagno will give a presentation on the history of the GM Plant and the Naval Air Center as well as the connection of the two industries. Calcagno is the administrator for the Ewing Township Historic Preservation Society and site manager of the Benjamin Temple House in Ewing.

The presentation will feature photos, telegrams, diagrams and news clippings from the archives. Learn how industry and war influenced both Ewing and the Hopewell Valley, which was home to many of the plant employees.
