Sixteen area residents celebrated the completion of their Emergency Medical Technician training in a ceremony at the Pennington First Aid Squad building on April 17.
Students in the class represented volunteer EMS squads from Hopewell, Titusville, Pennington, Montgomery Township, Allentown and Quakertown. The class was diverse in age, ranging from 16-years-old to 40-years-old, and included high school and college students, firefighters, business professionals and clergy members. The students underwent 240 hours of lectures, testing, skill sessions and emergency room experience.
The Pennington First Aid Squad Training Center prepares students to take the New Jersey state exam necessary to become certified EMTs. It has been offering the course since 1999 and has trained approximately 400 graduates. Conducting the most recent class were: Ian Malik, course coordinator; Cindy Orlandi, lead instructor; and instructors Julie Aberger, Debbie Gorczycki and Daniel Boone.
