Contact to hold training for community volunteers

Contact of Mercer County, a volunteer staffed Crisis and Suicide Prevention hotline, will offer two 40 hour training courses for prospective hotline volunteers beginning Tuesday, September 15, 2015. The morning training session will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and evening training will be from 7 to 10 p.m.

A one hour, no obligation, orientation session will be held on Septemer 15 at 9:30 a.m. and at 7 p.m. at the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 South Main Street in Pennington.

The classes teach compassionate listening skills, telephone crisis intervention, suicide prevention, addiction awareness and much more. Representatives from community agencies are speakers on a variety of topics. Taking this course is a great way to become a better listener and help other people through Contact.
