The 1987 motion picture fantasy, Big, is set to burst onto the Open Air Theatre stage.

Big, the Musical, is based on the film about a frustrated 12-year-old named Josh Baskin who makes a wish to become “big” and wakes up the next morning a 30-year-old man. Josh soon discovers there’s much more to being an adult than he’s bargained for.

The Open Air Theatre cast of Big, the Musical includes actors who have become familiar faces over the past five seasons.

The role of Josh Baskin, young and old, is shared by Tyler Hentz and Louis Palena, respectively. Hentz has appeared in Open Air productions of Gypsy and The Wizard of Oz. Palena serves as co-artistic director for the outdoor venue and performed leading roles in this season’s productions of Seussical, The Secret Garden and Li’l Abner.

David Whitman plays Mr. MacMillian owner of MacMillan Toy Company where Josh works. Whitman starred in past productions of The Drowsy Chaperone and Young Frankenstein.

Anna Hentz is Mrs. Baskin and will be remembered by theatergoers for her portrayal of Mama Rose in the 2013 Open Air production of Gypsy.

Playing the role of Susan is Jaimie Geddes who played Velma Kelly in the 2012 production of Chicago and Inga in last season’s Young Frankenstein.

Performances of Big, the Musical, are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children age 12 and under.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre is located inside Washington Crossing State Park at 355 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road in Titusville.
