The West Windsor Branch of the Mercer County Library System is hosting a series of programs commemorating New Jersey’s 350th anniversary.

Historian Dennis Waters kicks off the series with a presentation titled Hello World, Mercer is Calling – The History Behind the Mercer Meadows “Pole Farm.” Waters plans to discuss the pole farm in Mercer Meadows Park, which was originally an AT&T station that played a key component in building the world’s communication infrastructure.

The presentation, co-hosted by the Lawrence Historical Society, is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 15

Author and Historian Clifford Zink is set to present The Roebling Legacy 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 15.

His presentation highlights the legacy of the Roeblings and their Trenton-based wire rope company, which was once one of New Jersey’s largest manufacturers. The Roeblings designed and built the Brooklyn Bridge and built the cables on the George Washington and Golden Gate Bridges.

The final event, a radio play entitled The Wizard of Menlo Park, is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Feb. 16.

Raconteur Radio is set to present a play about Thomas Alva Edison’s long career as an inventor, scientist, and businessman. The play features theatrical lighting, period costumes and extensive sound effects.
