Felicia Zhang, a 2011 High School South graduate, will compete in pairs figure skating at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The 20-year-old currently trains with Nate Bartholomay in Ellenton, Florida. The two partnered in May, 2011, and won the silver medal at the 2014 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Boston on January 11. They were named to the U.S. Olympic team the following day.

Zhang is the daughter of Sam Zhang, who works in IT, and Kay Huang, a receptionist in a doctor’s office. Zhang’s younger brother, Derek, is 18 years old and a senior at High School South. Zhang’s father will represent the family and support Felicia in Sochi. Her mother drove Felicia 200 miles a day, five days a week, from their home in Plainsboro to Newark, Delaware, for training in both singles and pairs from 2008 to 2011. Zhang started figure skating at age 7 after attending a skating-themed birthday party.

The pairs competition airs on NBC on Thursday, February 11, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 8 to 11:30 p.m. and Wednesday, February 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 to 11:30 p.m.

If selected, Zhang and Bartholomay will also appear in the new team pairs competition that airs Thursday, February 6, 8 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, February 8, 11 to 2:30 p.m. and 8 to 11:30 p.m.
