Members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 71582 earned their Bronze award by knitting 123 scarves for senior citizens at the Lawrenceville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. The girls used a loom to learn how to knit and exceeded the required hours to knit the scarves, add personalized notes, and wrap the scarves to present as holiday gifts.

The girls have been singing for these seniors since they were in kindergarten as part of the service unit event run by Kate Henkel. When asked what the girls felt were the significant aspects of the project the responses included “It felt nice to see the seniors so happy,” “We were glad we could do something to make them feel special and loved,” and “We learned a new skill that we could use.”

Troop members include Hope Jaworowski, Pearl Rowland, Kaila Shah, Madison Wiston, Lauren Kuczmarski, Sanjana Korpal, Michelle Agarwal, Ria Bajaj, Aarthi Katakam, Cherie Fernandes, Varsha Gollarhalli, Sophie Pirrera, Lindsay Bizenov, Danielle Lluberes, and Vaishali Shah.
