Princeton Symphony Orchestra musicians and the PHS Choir combine to celebrate the season with holiday music and the annual carol sing-a-long on Dec. 13, 4 pm, at Princeton University’s Richardson Auditorium.
The musicians of the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) will visit the Richardson Auditorium on Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. to deliver their personal holiday greeting in the form of festive music played by soloists from every section of the orchestra.
Conducted by PSO Music Director Rossen Milanov, the Holiday POPS! Concert will feature works by Mendelssohn, Robert Shaw, Paul Dukas, Vivaldi, and Mozart. The Princeton High School Choir will join the orchestra on selected pieces, performing a cappella, and leading the annual carol sing-a-long, an arrangement of traditional favorites by Leroy Anderson.
Under the direction of Vincent Metallo, the PHS Choir has performed extensively in North America and Europe. The choir toured most recently to Ljubljana, Slovenia; Padova, Verona, and Venice, Italy; and Catalonia and Barcelona, Spain. This coming February, the choir will tour Estonia and Latvia. Invited annually by the Princeton Symphony Orchestra to share the stage at its popular holiday pops concert, this joint PSO/PHS Choir concert is a holiday tradition in Princeton.
PSO Holiday POPS! is sponsored by the Princeton branch of Fidelity Investments. Tickets are $40 adults and $25 students (under 18) and can be purchased online at princetonsymphony.org or by phone at 497-0020.
There will also be a prelude event on Dec. 11 at the Princeton Garden Theatre, where PSO principal harpist André Tarantiles will perform holiday music at 7 p.m., just prior to the theatre’s 7:30 pm screening of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
