Elks award essay contest winners

The Bordentown Elks awarded winners in its Americanism Essay contest an an awards dinner Feb. 5.

Judges selected 61 winners from 61 essays that were submitted.

Winners are McFarland School student Brianna Reed and Bordentown Regional Middle School students Aleia Barclay, Isobel Lukach, Chandler Kirby, Dylan Schramm and Davin Eget.

The Elks presented each winner with a framed certificate of achievement, $25 Visa gift card, American flag and patriotic balloons.

In addition, essay contest project coordinator Dick Langan presented an Elk’s heritage corner kit to BRMS assistant principal Sam Tola. The kit includes copies of the Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Monroe Doctrine, Gettysburg Address, Elks Resolution on Law and Order, and Elks Declaration of American Principles.
