Trenton Freedom arena football team visited Kistharst Elementary School to celebrate Read Across America on March 10.

Each classroom welcomed a few players, who read their favorite Dr. Seuss book and discussed the importance of reading.

The team’s mascot General George, a six-foot tall eagle dresses like George Washington, met with students.

The National Education Association’s Read Across America Day is dedicated to the importance of reading. Read Across America takes place on Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2.

In honor of Read Across America Day, Kisthardt students and teachers decorated the school with Dr. Seuss themed doors and art teacher Stephanie Walter displayed her mural of the Lorax.
