The deadline for filing for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program in Mercer County has been extended to June 30.

Families who pay their own heating costs, and meet various income qualifications, may be eligible to receive financial assistance with their winter heating bill and also may be eligible for cooling assistance.

To apply for assistance from LIHEAP or the year-round Universal Service Fund program, residents should contact the Mercer County Housing and Community Development Office at (609) 989-6858 or 989-6959, or visit the housing office on the first floor of the County Administration Building at 640 South Broad St., Trenton, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays).

LIHEAP and USF are administered by the Mercer County Housing and Community Development Office. Funds for the programs are provided through grants awarded by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.
