The Pennington School awards middle school graduates

The Pennington School held graduation ceremonies for its Middle School at the Pennington United Methodist Church June 12.

Head of Middle School Todd D. Paige announced eighth-grade award-winners and Head of School Penny Townsend and faculty advisers joined him in presenting the diplomas to 39 students.

Caroline Bouton of Pennington was valedictorian, judged first in scholarship for the eighth grade; she also received an award for excellence in Latin. Salutatorian Ryan Totaro of Ewing Township welcomed the audience and was recognized for excellence in English and social studies.

Other eighth-grade speakers offering reflections were Ayanna Johnson of Ewing and Sydney Faber of Pennington; Faber also received an award for excellence in German.

Among the other awards presented were those for excellence in science to James Hofer of Princeton and Nicholas Micheletti of Milford; in social studies to Henry Nawn of Skillman; in mathematics to Jingyuan Lu of Qindao, China; in Spanish to Alyssa McDougall of Newtown, Pa.; in French to Grace Colalillo of Delaware Township; in art and drama to Mitchell Walker of Lawrenceville; and in music to Rowan Goeckeler of Frenchtown.

An award for citizenship went to Zoe Michaelson of Skillman and for greatest improvement to Cole Felsher of Pennington.

The middle school Instrumental Ensemble performed, as did sixth-grade handchimes and handbells group.

Grauates also include David Iorio Jr., Jake Papa (Hamilton Township); Kathleen Horsley, Finn McConaughy, Kayla McInerney, Carly Rice (Hopewell Township); Max Marsala-Williams (Robbinsville Township); Jacob Essig and Sara Essig (Princeton).
