Hamilton A’s win Elite Championship Tournament

The Hamilton A’s Nation won the Elite Championship Tournament in Hershey, Pa., during the weekend of June 28.

The team, made up of Bordentown, Hamilton, Jackson, Robbinsville and Upper Freehold residents, won six games to take home tournament medals.

The first win was a 6-4 over Team Dugout of Downingtown, Pa. Next, the A’s defeated Mid Atlantic Shockers of Berlin, Md., 2-1. The team won their third game against West End of Williamsport, Pa. 6-4. In the quarterfinals, the A’s beat the Coatesville Jays of Coatesville, Pa., 6-5. The team the Big Leagues Academy of Newtown, Pa., 10-8 in the semifinals.

In the championship game, the A’s beat the Reading Jr Fightin Phils of Reading, Pa., 5-4 behind an impressive pitching performance by Matt D’Amore. He struck out the last two batters in the bottom of the seventh inning with the tying run on second base and the winning run on first base. Mike Zupko, McGwire Tuffy, and Bryce Fremgen each had two hits and Kyle Kato hit a key double to pace a big third inning for the A’s.
