The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County are set to offer a program on lawn renovation and establishment.

According to the master gardeners, the right time to repair your lawn is late summer or early fall. A seminar on how to set the foundation for a health lawn is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12 at Rutgers Cooperative Extension, 930 Spruce St., Lawrence.

During the program, Mercer County horticulturist Barbara J. Bromley is set to participants how to prepare lawns for reseeding, how to select the appropriate type of seed and how to apply fertilizer effectively.

Soil test mailers, used to determine how much, fertilizer or lime is needed, will be available for purchase.

The Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County is a volunteer educational outreach program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Master gardeners participate in many volunteer programs throughout the county, as well as answer home horticulture questions through their Rutgers Master Gardener Helpline, (609) 989-6853, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To pre-register for the lawn care program, call (609) 989-6830.
