Hopewell Valley Chorus is set to hold its first open rehearsal of the season.

Rehearsals for the group’s holiday concerts, Heaven and Earth, are scheduled for Sept. 8 and 15. Interested signers are welcome to join the rehearsals.

The holiday concert features a new piece, Sunrise Mass by Ola Gjeilo. The four-movement Gjeilo Latin mass is scored for choir and string orchestra; it was commissioned in 2007 and premiered in 2008. Carols about heaven and earth make up the second half of the concert, reflecting themes of the mass.

Now entering its 55th year, the unauditioned Hopewell Valley Chorus is made up of approximately 60 singers, in all four voice parts. Michele Zuckman is artistic director and Stefanie Watson is the accompanist.

Aside from school holidays, rehearsals are scheduled for 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at Hopewell Valley Central High School, 259 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington.

Dues are $45 per season.
