Kisthardt Elementary School’s instrumental music department introduced string and band programs to third, fourth and fifth grade students at an assembly on Sept. 9, 2013.

The string program is offered to all third graders; participants take lessons on playing the violin.

Fourth and fifth graders can choose from various instruments including the violin, viola, cello, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, french horn, percussion, flute, baritone horn or alto saxophone. The program consists of weekly small group lessons and ensembles.

Students are encouraged to practice at home.

At the end of the year, students perform for their parents and classmates.
