We are asking you to vote to elect Louisa Ho and Rakesh Kak to the two West Windsor seats on the board of education.

We met in April of this year when we both interviewed for the interim position on the board created by the resignation of Bob Johnson. While Louisa was chosen for the interim position, Rakesh chose to stay involved and has been attending board meetings regularly. Since then, we’ve talked for hours and have decided to run as a team.

We bring a good mix of backgrounds, skills, and experience. Rakesh is an entrepreneur and financial expert, working in mergers and acquisitions. Louisa worked for 12 years for New Jersey Transit, in the public sector, as a planner and operations manager. Rakesh was born in India, came to the United States 26 years ago, and has lived the immigrant experience.

Louisa was born in Butte, Montana, and grew up in California. While we both have business skills, we have both also been committed to serving our community. Rakesh has served on the board of LeParc Homeowners Association since 2008 and has volunteered for several local organizations and causes. Louisa chose parenting and volunteering over her career and has done extensive volunteer work in our community, including major leadership positions in Girl Scouts and for the High School South marching band.

We also have lots of things in common. We are both engineers by training. Louisa graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in transportation from MIT. Rakesh graduated from IIT in India with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, followed by an MBA from Columbia Business School. We both have had two children in the school district for many years. Louisa’s kids have been in district K-12 and K-11, and Rakesh’s children K-6 and K-10. It is helpful to have experienced, as a parent, the school district at all levels, elementary through high school.

Most importantly, we are both committed to maintaining the quality of the educational experience while being fiscally responsible to our taxpayers.
