Slackwood Elementary School students’ creations on display.

Slackwood student Alejandra Cherry and her mom work on the wheel on Oct. 22, 2013.

Slackwood Elementary School students and their parents participated in art specialist Jill Lee-You’s Wheel Project.

Students and their parents gathered in the all-purpose room to work on their creations. One of the rules in making these pieces of art is “there are no rules;” no two wheels looked alike.

The Wheel Project has been featured at Lawrence City Hall and Grounds for Sculpture. Lee-You and her colleagues from throughout the district made the installation from recycled materials.
