A Warning From the Postal Service

The U.S. Post Office warns residents to beware if they receive a solicitation from a Local Records Office asking for an $89 Service Fee for a copy of a grant deed or other record of title. Those documents can be downloaded from the internet or received from the county recorder’s office. U.S. Postal Inspectors investigate any crime in which the U.S. mail is used to further a scheme — whether it originated in the mail, by telephone, or on the Internet. If you feel you’ve been victimized in a fraud scheme that involves the U.S. Mail, submit a Mail Fraud Complaint Form to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. https://ehome.uspis.gov/fcsexternal/default.aspx.
