Princeton High School class of 1983 alumna Bhaswati Bhattacharya has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant for her work in Ayurvedic Medicine.

She is set to lecture and research at the Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India, during the 2013-2014 academic year.

Bhattacharya’s research focuses on the Ayurvedic concept of Ojas, which correlates roughly with the body’s natural vitality and built-in immunity. Her work aims at gathering clinical protocols and constructing scientific interpretations to facilitate the blending of Ayurvedic approaches with conventional U.S. medical practice.

She is the director at the DINacharya Institute in New York.

Bhattacharya graduated with the Princeton High School Gold Key award, as well as membership to Quill & Scroll, and was awarded several scholarships for college from PHS.

She matriculated in the fall of 1983, at the University of Pennsylvania. All four sisters of her family are graduates of Princeton High School. Her family still lives in Princeton.
