Front-line responders from more than a dozen Mercer County, state and municipal agencies took part in a federally required Airport Emergency Plan review conducted by Trenton-Mercer Airport on May 30.

The purpose of the event, held Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell, was to fully review and discuss the AEP to ensure the document continues to be maintained in a manner consistent with the National Incident Management System/Incident Command System.

A “Table Top” review, where participants discussed a fictional emergency scenario and their agencies proposed responses to it, also was performed.

In addition to Trenton-Mercer Airport staff, TTN Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF)-Station 34, and the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, which oversees the airport, a number of other County agencies were represented.

Agencies include Mercer County’s Executive’s Office, Office of Emergency Management, Central Dispatch, Prosecutor’s Office and Sheriff’s Office.

The New Jersey Division of Aeronautics, West Trenton Fire Company-Station 33, Pennington Road Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services, Ewing Township Police Department and Office of Emergency Management, Capital Health Medical Center and the Mercer County coordinators for EMS and fire also took part in the program.

Representatives from Frontier Airlines also participated.

Under Federal Aviation Administration regulations, an AEP review must be completed annually by TTN.
