Princeton Day School students take top awards at science competitions

Princeton Day School Upper School students took top honors at both Merck State Science Day and New Jersey Science League in May.

The PDS team was named the top team in Mercer County and awarded a plaque at Merck State Science Day on May 23.

The team is comprised of Robin Linzmayer of Allentown, Colby Triolo of Burlington, Georgia Wong and Kali Rigby of Flemington, Justin Donnelly of Newtown, Jake Hall, Matthew Cavuto and Jay Karandikar of Skillman, Sean Hudson of Princeton Junction, Michael Tucker of Pennington, Meghan Wilmott, Jonas Kaufman and Michael Kearney of Princeton, Navin Rao of Hillsborough and Max Nye of Washington Crossing, Pa.

Additionally, the Advanced Integrated team comprised of Karandikar, Nye, and Kaufman received a plaque for placing fourh in the state. Karandikar also placed first in Mercer County and received a Certificate of Recognition.

For the New Jersey State Science League, students received certificates for earning high marks on exams in various disciplines.

Sarah Lippman of Pennington and Wilmott were honored in the Biology I category. Alex Zhu of Princeton, Triolo, Karandikar and Linzmayer for Biology II. Rigby, Kearney and Rao for Chemistry I. Herbert Li of Dayton and Donnelly for Chemistry II. Adrien Farhat of Princeton and Michael Talusan of Hillsborough for Physics I and Nick Staudinger of Ringoes for Physics II.

In addition, Kearney and Donnelly received plaques for finishing in the top 10 percent of Chemistry I Chemistry II, respectively.

Finally, the Chemistry I team comprised of Rigby, Rao, and Kearney received a team plaque for placing ninth in the state.
