Princeton Public Library’s Page to Stage series is set to continue with a drama and literary workshop for teens.
Director and playwright Brandon Monokian and actress and composer Kaitlin Overton plan to lead a workshop on Anon(ymous), a play by Naomi Iizuka. The workshop will culminate in performances scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 23.
Anon(ymous) is based on Homer’s epic poem The Odyssey, which is part of Princeton High School English department’s freshman curriculum.
The week-long workshop is open to rising eighth graders and above. It is scheduled for Aug. 19 through 23 at the library, 65 Witherspoon St., Princeton. The group is set to meet three hours each day.
Enrollment for the workshop is limited to 25 students, and a commitment for the entire week is required. Registration is online at at princetonlibrary.org.
Page to Stage is a series of staged readings of plays adapted from or inspired by literature and is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. It was developed by Monokian and librarian Janie Hermann in 2011 as a means to promote reading in a fun and physical way.
