Bowl by the Artisans of the Valley.

Three Pennington artists launched a Kickstarter to support their woodworking business.

Artisans of the Valley is a father-son studio founded by Master Craftsmen Stanley and Eric Saperstein. The duo has partnered with artisan Michael Pietras to introduce a new twist on turning manzanita burl.

Sourced in southern California, this product of firebreaks and road construction was previously discarded and burned in mass. The material is so harsh and unpredictable it is often shunned by even experienced turners; however, once conquered the wood reveals an vibrant coloration of red, yellow and orange.

The artisans launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise fund for heavy equipment. They said with the purchase of this equipment, they will be able to create previously impossible work.

In return, the artisans are offering the first bowls, vases and vessels produced on the machine.
