The township has awarded a $399,000 contract to Caruso Excavating, Inc., of Howell, for its third phase of development at Duck Pond Park.

Caruso was the lowest of 17 companies who bid on the contract. The contract, approved by the Township Council on March 21, will be funded through money allocated in the township’s budget in 2007 for municipal park improvements.

Part of the work includes grading of the entire area, creation of a detention basin, and development of a fishing pond at the park.

In other business during the March 21 meeting, the council also approved a $17,000 contract with Piazza & Associates for affordable housing consultant services and the purchase of 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe for the Division of Fire and Emergency Services at a cost of $41,464.45.
