Networking pays off. Childhood friends Meg McQuarrie and Jim Barbour graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, Class of 1989, and reunited at their 20th high school reunion. They are now planning an afternoon of grilling, eating, and drinking — as a benefit.

McQuarrie is the executive director of Elixir Fund, a non-profit organization improving the comfort and care of cancer patients and their caregivers across the country with meal services, transportation, yoga, reiki, and massage. Barbour, the CEO of Funnibonz Barbecue Sauce (https://funnibonz.com), who has been featured in the News several times, sells his sauces at West Windsor Farmers’ Market, McCaffrey’s, Whole Foods, Wegmans, and ShopRite.

“The idea was suggested to us by a female friend who said she, and many of her friends, are intimidated by the grill,” says McQuarrie. “The class itself will run about two hours and then we will eat the fruits of our labor.” $50 tickets include food, alcohol, and benefit the Elixir Fund. Register quickly as class size is limited to 15 people.
