Members of the West Windsor Environmental Commission are seeking volunteers to help distribute 3,”651 Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs) by going door-to-door around the township on Saturday, January 10.##M:[more]##

The township and the commission are partners with the NJ Office of Clean Energy (NJOCE) in raising awareness about energy conservation, and received the bulbs from an affiliate of the NJOCE, Project Porchlight. The commission is looking to have 70 volunteers — individuals and community groups — involved in the effort. Volunteers would arrive at the High School South cafeteria for orientation at 10 a.m. (entering the school through the front door near the flag pole). Then, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the volunteers would help distribute the bulbs door-to-door. Children under 16 years old would need to be supervised by a parent. Volunteers have the option of selecting their own neighborhoods, if available. Then, from 1 to 2 p.m., lunch, t-shirts, and volunteer certificates will be provided at the High School South cafeteria.

Volunteers should register by sending an e-mail to q.xavier@porchlight.org. Questions should be addressed to Mike Hornsby, chair of the Environmental Commission, at 973-430-7186 (day), or 609-275-7097 (evening).
