Students from Millstone River School collected stuffed animals as part of PEI Kids’ annual “Kids Helping Kids” program that provides a furry companion to kids in its Crisis Intervention for Child Victims of Sexual Abuse and Supervised Family Visitation programs. Lisa Valeriani, a guidance counselor at the school, coordinates the collection each year.##M:[more]##

“The recipients have been sexually abused or are in the foster care system,” says Nicole Cody, communications and outreach associate at PEI Kids. “The kids at Millstone were excited to collect stuffed animals for our kids.”

Project Pride and Service Club students from Community Middle School and High School North participated in Care Drive 2007. Community Middle School Service Club advisor and teacher Eileen Chubik-Kwis and Project Pride advisors Faith Scibienski and Wendy Michalewsky coordinated the preparation of 300 bags donated to the Crisis Ministry.

The gift bags each contained toothpaste, toothbrush, razors, shaving gel, soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. Large boxes and crates filled with bars of soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other assorted items were also donated to the organization that serves low-income families and those affected by adverse events.
