Ever since Joyce Perilli was a little girl, she always enjoyed making others around her feel pretty, she said.

Now, she gets to do that on a daily by fulfilling her dream of opening her own business.

Royal Nails and Spa, a beauty salon, has been servicing customers at 1064 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road for about a year now.

The salon offers manicures, pedicures, artificial nails and waxing, by appointments and by dropping in.

Perilli, no stranger to the nail salon business, has lived in Hamilton for five years. Since coming here from Vietnam, where she grew up, she has worked at various salons honing her skills. She has a number of family members in Tennessee who have also found success in the nail salon industry.

But what really brought her to the area was meeting her husband, Richard Perilli. The two met in her native country and decided to make their home in Hamilton.

What Perilli really enjoys about the business is the chance to meet and talk with many of the customers, she said.

“I love the customers here,” she said.

Dawn Antinoro, who was present on June 20 for a manicure, returns the sentiment.

“It’s a very friendly atmosphere,” she said. “Every time you come in here, everybody’s nice.”

Perilli said making customers feel calm and welcomed is a top priority.

“I want them to feel comfortable, relaxed and happy,” she said.

So far, the business has been doing well and she has been enjoying it “very much,” she said.

Royal Nails is open from Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It can be reached at (609) 581-2328.
