Residents have the convenience of being able to buy a book of stamps or mail a package at 3 a.m. if they really needed to, but those who can benefit from the Plainsboro Post Office’s Automatic Postal Center (APC) — the machine that allows customers to make transactions 24 hours a day, seven days a week — may not even know how to utilize it.##M:[more]##

That is why the post office is holding APC Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 30, for residents to learn how to get acquainted with the machine. The machine allows customers to mail packages — using any type of mailing, including express — buy stamps, and do just about anything else other than money orders. Purchases made using the machine have to account for more than $1, and customers must use debit or credit cards.

Post office clerk Linda Grice says she sees customers preferring to wait in long lines at the window than ask for help using the machine.

Postmaster Bill Clark will be available for three hours during the APC Day to help customers learn to use the machine and get acquainted with its functions. Free donuts are offered to those who attend. The post office is located on Schalks Crossing Road. Residents can also call the post office at 609-799-0239.
