New Bridge Connects WW Parks

Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh and Congressman Rush Holt cut the ribbon on a bridge over Big Bear Brook in West Windsor’s Community Park on June 16. ##M:[more]##The bridge will make a it possible for a bicycle and pedestrian pathway to run through the township along the PSE&G easement, connecting Community Park with Cranbury Road.

“The bridge is installed,” said Hsueh. “Now we need to construct the path within Community Park and along the PSE&G right-of-way to Rabbit Hill Road.”

The completion of the 3,”000 foot long path will allow access from the Rabbit Hill Road area easier access to Community Park and to Princeton-Hightstown Road.

The bridge is located near Grover’s Pond at the north of the park. Congressman Holt helped secure a $200,”000 federal grant to fund the bridge, which is 8 feet wide and 135 feet long. It is a bow, truss-style steel framed bridge with a wooden deck.

“This section of the pathway that runs along the PSE&G right-of-way should be completed this month. We look forward to the completion of the entire stretch so that we can have an official opening with PSE&G later this summer,” said Hsueh.

The paved pathway is being funded through a $100,”000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
