High School South’s Marching Band was awarded the state championship in the Group 2 open division on November 3 at a competition at Washington Township High School in Sewell.

The band, led by Scott Collins, also received awards for best effect, best percussion, best color guard, and best visual.##M:[more]##

The band received first place overall at several competitions this season with the show, “Windows,” with music arrangements by David Gillingham and Mike Davis. Mark Fisher wrote the band’s drill. Jason Price is the assistant director and percussion instructor. Field direction is by South senior, Joshua Suslak.

The band will be competing in its second USSBA National Championship show at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland this Friday evening, November 16. Visit www.piratemarchingband.org for more information.
