The planned improvements for West Windsor Community Park, including new recreation fields, parking lot improvements, and installation of a skate and dog park are closer to being underway.

The project will be awarded to Procaccini Paving, a local company, which submitted the lower of two bids for the project. The total cost will be $449,595, funds which have already been included in the 2006 capital budget.

The bid is expected to be awarded at the Monday, Sept. 11 Township Council meeting. Work is expected to beging this fall, and Township Engineer James Parvesse expects the facilities to be in use by next spring.

The skate and dog parks will be located next to the Water Works Aquatic center in Community Park, which is off of Princeton-Hightstown Road.

The township has already purchased materials for the skate park, including an asphalt pad, but Procaccini must hire a licensed skate park installer to construct the area. Insurance for skaters using the park will be sold to each one individually, on a mandatory, per-session basis.
