Out of Africa

Kalie McMillan, a rising senior at High School South, recently returned from a trip to Morocco and Niger with the F3B organization. Their mission is to conduct basketball camps and professional development for African American and African teenage young women to increase communication, cooperation, cultural awareness, and basketball skills for the girls.##M:[more]##

Kali, selected to be the organization’s official photographer, took more than 7,”500 images, capturing the girls in the classroom, dorm, and sightseeing trips to orphanages, Helen Keller International, and Koure to see giraffe herds. The group stayed in Naimey, Niger, and Casablanca.

Her photos will be used for the annual souvenir journal as well as for notecards and calendars to benefit next year’s trip.

Teachers Study

West Windsor-Plainsboro teachers involved in Princeton University Connect-Ed program this summer include Virginia Baner, grade 7, physical science and chemistry; Caroline Behrand, grade 5, physical science and chemistry; Marie Bresnahan, grade 4, physical science and geology of New Jersey; Jeff Grabel, grade 3, physical science and energy) is also a lead teacher in the weather and climate session; Andy Maskell, grade 8, physical science; Tami Stoeckel, grade 5, physical science and chemistry; Danica Taylor, grade 4, physical science and geology of New Jersey; Teresa Maone, grade 8, is also a lead teacher in physical science; and Heidi Wachtin, grade 5, weather and climate.

Jayme Reeber Kosa of West Windsor led a delegation of New Jersey national board certified teachers during a conference held on July 21 in Washington, D.C. They discussed their role as mentors and teacher performance with members of Congress. Reeber Kosa, a West Windsor-Plainsboro High School graduate, is a teacher at Grover Middle School.
