More Katrina Relief

Village School students raised money that was sent to the East Baton Rouge School District in Louisiana. The district has more than 5,”000 displaced students.##M:[more]##

Jeffrey Kuan played the violin at Dunkin’ Donuts; car washes were held by Ashleigh Honig Marisa Pollace, Sam Hudson, and Piers Hudson; and lemonade was sold by Dan Brooks, Hayley Merrill, and Sarah Mahar.

The faculty on Community Middle School’s Team 8C, Debra Baer, Brenda Cantor, Cheryl Ciaranca, Maria Devitt, and Peter Varoon, were instrumental in a Wave of Compassion program to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. Students raised money to purchase backpacks and fill them with school supplies, letters of encouragement, and pen pal information. The filled backpacks will be sent to the North Highlands Elementary School in Louisiana.

Harley Pickens of West Windsor delivered a check in the amount of $789 for monies collected by the West Windsor Lions Club to Jim McCaffrey, owner of McCaffrey’s Markets. The money will be added to funds donated by McCaffrey’s
