Plainsboro Township Committee on December 14 is expected to vote to accept a report setting special assessments for sewer improvements in the Village area.##M:[more]##

The report recommends the township levy a special assessment of $3,”750.05 for 38 properties on Plainsboro Road, Dey Road, and Edgemere Avenue. The properties — the remaining parcels in the Village without sewer service — will be tied into the sewer lines constructed by Sharbell Development Corp. as part of its Plainsboro Village Center development.

In June the Township Committee approved a bond ordinance appropriating $203,”587 to pay for the hookups. The actual cost of the project turned out to be $142,”502 — an amount equally split among the property owners for reimbursement.

The report was prepared by a three-member commission appointed by the Township Committee to assess costs to homeowners. Members of the group were Zoning Board of Adjustment member Werner Schmid, Princeton Landing property manager Marjorie Behrens, and Housing Advisory Committee member Dolores Corona.

Without the agreement with Sharbell, the sewer project would have cost the homeowners much more — in the neighborhood of $18,”000 to $25,”000.
