Womanspace will launch its Communities of Light™ Campaign on Oct. 26 at Capital Health Medical Center- Hopewell. In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, the Campaign seeks to increase awareness about domestic and sexual violence in the community and garner support for Womanspace’s mission.

This year’s honorary chair is Al Maghazehe; CEO & President of Capital Health, a two-hospital health system consisting of the Capital Health Regional Medical Center and Mercer hospital, both in Trenton and an outpatient facility in Hamilton Township.

Each year, over 200 volunteers sell, distribute and display luminary kits. The Campaign culminates with a county-wide “lighting of luminaries” on Dec. 8, when thousands of lit candles will be placed along the streets of central New Jersey. 100% of the proceeds gleaned from event sponsorships, luminary kit sales and donations benefit Womanspace programs that serve over 10,000 adults and children each year.

Womanspace is a non-profit agency in Mercer County that provides a comprehensive range of services, including crisis intervention, emergency shelter, counseling, court advocacy and housing assistance, to individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.
