Open Letter to Howard Hughes

This is an open letter to the Howard Hughes Corporation and to the West Windsor Planning Board as well as the community at large. From my reading of an article in the March 7 edition of the WW-P News, the Hughes group is looking for suggestions as to how to develop the parcel of land that is the former American Cyanamid site.

I would like to see this site become a solar cell farm.

To encourage the Hughes group to develop a solar farm they should be offered either tax free or farm land assessment. I would like to see the Hughes group come before the planning board with a concept that this solar farm is much more than just an ordinary solar farm. It could be an experimental site for the latest in solar technology.

The Hughes group and PSE&G, which has an office near the site, could be encouraged to partner up. As a part of the status of a research- development and production facility (i.e. to turn a profit), the Hughes group will make public what discoveries are found. Every member of our community, especially those of us who live in a home or live in an apartment or work in a building could benefit from the knowledge gathered at such a facility. Additionally, the young people of our community can see the possibilities for the future. Perhaps someone in the area might even have an idea that could be tested at this station.
