Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce chief financial officer and director of finance, Lorraine Holcombe, is a finalist in the 2013 NJBIZ CFO of the Year awards.

Holcombe was named a finalist for the Nonprofit CFO Small—up to 50 employees—category. NJBIZ is set to recognize the finalists and announce the winners at a breakfast awards ceremony on Oct. 29.

During her seven-year tenure at the chamber, Holcombe has doubled the revenue of the organization, implemented business initiatives that have grown membership and reorganized and converted the financial assets of the Chamber Foundation, which expanded its grant making ability through a partnership with the Princeton Area Community Foundation.

Chamber CEO and president Peter Crowley nominated Holcombe for the position. In his nomination, Crowley said “Lorraine developed financial initiatives, membership outreach ideas and programs and created technology improvements that when implemented have helped grow the 501C-6 from a small four person local Princeton based not for profit organization to a Central New Jersey five county regional chamber ranked as the sixth largest chamber in New Jersey.”

Along with her role as CFO/director of finance, Holcombe is the human resource director and chief technology officer.

“Lorraine is everything you would like for a CFO; she is honest, organized, accurate, analytical, competent and among other traits just a plain good person,” Chair of the Chamber’s Finance Committee, Richard Coyne, said in a statement. Coyne is shareholder at WithumSmith+Brown, a sponsor of the award.

The CFO of the Year awards program celebrates New Jersey’s financial executives at all levels who contribute to the success of New Jersey’s economic growth and stability. Finalists were selected in seven categories, which include public, private and nonprofit companies.

Finalists and winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges, including Paul Chase of Financial Executives International, Michael Mardy of Tumi Holdings, Denis C. Picard of Alvarez & Marsal Business Consulting, LLC and Vinay Torani of Duff & Phelps, LLC.
