Terhune Orchards owner Gary Mount, shares his technique for pruning trees with onlookers.

Terhune Orchards is set to host a free tree pruning class March 16.

Owner Gary Mount is set to teach the class 11 a.m. at the farm, 330 Cold Soil Road, Lawrence.

Mount said March or early April is the right time to prune fruit trees to insure they will have a good crop this year.

During the class, He will explain his technique for pruning fruit trees and answer questions.

Additionally, Mount will discuss new varieties of fruit trees suitable for planting by the homeowner and the difference between various rootstocks.

Terhune Orchards’ own cider and donuts will be served as refreshments.

This class will be held rain or shine.
