A hands-on native plant workshop will be held Thursday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at the Lawrence Headquarters Branch of the Mercer County Library System.

Led by Kelly Rypkema, director of environmental education at the Mercer County Park Commission, the workshop will teach participants how to support local wildlife using native plants.

Attendees will learn how to identify native species, choose the right plants for their own yards, and locate reputable native plant nurseries. Participants are encouraged to bring a smartphone or laptop. A few lucky attendees will go home with a native plant to get started.

The program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Lawrence Library, which helps support year-round library events for adults and youth. The library is located at 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ.

Registration is appreciated and may be completed online at mcl.org. For more information, call 609-883-8292 or email lawprogs@mcl.org.
