Greenwood principal honored with community service award

The Hamilton Township Municipal Office recognized Greenwood Elementary School principal, Dr. Nicole Dickens-Simon for her leadership and dedication with the Spirit of Community Service Award on Jan. 13 at the Faith Baptist Church on Kuser Road in Hamilton.

“Thank you to The Hamilton Township Tribute Committee for reviewing my body of work and selecting me to receive The 2025 Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit of Community Service Award. I appreciate the opportunity to have served The Nottingham High School, Hamilton High West and Greenwood Elementary School communities,” said Dickens-Simon.

The Hamilton High School Jazz Band attended this event under the direction of Pete Certo. Additionally, Gino DiNatale from Steinert High School, along with Jaela Rivera and Gina Wong from Hamilton West, were awarded the 11th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Scholarship Awards in recognition of their academic excellence and collaborative spirit.

“Dr. Dickens-Simon is an outstanding leader, educator, and person. She puts others before herself and consistentlly works to create a wonderful school community for students, staff, and families at Greenwood Elementary School. Dr. Dickens-Simon receiving this award affirms the positive efforts to Make Each Day Count as a Principal,” said Dr. Scott Rocco, HTSD Superintendent of Schools.
