Child Care Connection, a Ewing-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing the quality, availability, and affordability of child care in Mercer County, has announced the appointment of Cynthia L. Jackson of Hamilton Square to the position of director of Education and Referral Services. The former coordinator of educational programs succeeds another tireless advocate for quality care, Beth Ann Gardiner, who stepped down after 24 years of committed service to CCC.

Jackson joined CCC in 2005 as a full-time trainer with the agency’s Early Childhood Institute of Professional Development. In 2008, she was promoted to educational programs coordinator where she was responsible for planning and delivering training sessions for child care providers and for providing training and technical assistance to child care center staff through a number of quality enhancement initiatives including Steps to Quality: Family Child Care Initiative, the Strengthening Families Initiative, and the Steps to Healthy Success Learning Collaboration. Jackson has been certified in CLASS observation and PAS assessment and in the Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC).

Prior to joining CCC, Jackson served as director for the Family Resource Center at its Lawrence Day School. She also spent a number of years at Kean University’s child care center while earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in early childhood education at Kean.

The Child Care Connection, Inc. is a private, non-profit child care resource and referral organization serving central New Jersey. The CCR&R for Mercer County, the agency offers child care referrals, applications and administration for child care financial assistance programs and education opportunities to child care providers.
