Villa Victoria Academy students celebrated the 100th day of school with community service projects on Feb. 14.

Projects benefited Mercer and Bucks County food pantries and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

First graders in Mrs. Hollin’s class set out to collect 100 canned goods to celebrate the 100th day of school.

As the cans came to school, the first graders integrated math into the project. They grouped and counted the cans in several ways.

The students collected 436 cans. They donated the canned food to Bucks County Housing Group food pantries and the Princeton Alliance Church food pantry.

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week in February, the first graders collected gently used books for CHOP’s pediatric clinic and Cradles to Crayons.

Cradles to Crayons provides children from birth to age 12, living in low- income and homeless situations, with the essential items they need to thrive at home, at school and at play.
